What to expect as a Donation Attendant at Goodwill-

  • You will accept donations from donors and issues receipts as necessary.
  • This is a front-line position representing Goodwill Industries to the public.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, greets donors and carries donations from the donor’s vehicle to the center and gives donor a receipt if requested.
  • Exercises good judgement in determining which donations are acceptable while communicating that decision to the customer effectively and politely as possible.
  • Keeps donation area both inside/outside areas clean, neat and free of debris at all times.
  • Training on Gaylord and pallet use will be provided.
  • Assists in the unloading/loading of trucks and/or trailers.
  • Maintains all required records and delivers to the supervisor or driver as scheduled.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Must have legible handwriting and the ability to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and smell. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally required to team-lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements for this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles, and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts or equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
