Summary:

Production Assistant Manager has direct supervision overall production supervisors, and hourly staff. They have responsibility with regard to store production supervision on a day by day basis; meeting the needs of the store and its customers. y must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Tacoma Goodwill’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs all opening and closing procedures and responsibilities.
  • Is the security “captain” for the location, works in cooperation with management and Loss Prevention to protect company assets from internal and external theft
  • Is the lead for the semi-annual inventory
  • Orders all supplies needed to maintain the function of the store while maintaining expense to budget; monthly as well as annually.
  • Ensure that payroll expenses are in line within budgeted parameters.
  • Ensure that all wage requests and payroll timekeeping in up to date for all employees.
  • Is responsible to ensure the building and its functions are properly maintained and any requests for maintenance are properly documented and followed up.
  • Ensure security and safety systems are in working order, including but not limited to door locks, alarms, bank deposits, refunds, vouchers, and incident reports.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwill’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three years related experience retail supervision with proven incremental supervisory advancement.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills:

Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word; ability to navigate and use web-based programs and sites.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be able to obtain a valid First Aid and CPR card, which meets OSHA and WISHA standards within 30 days of hire. Must be able to obtain certification on all equipment needed to run a retail store. Must have a Washington State Driver’s License. Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification, as well as regularly operate a forklift upon request.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Basic bookkeeping, sales and accounting methods relevant to retail store.

Other Qualifications:

Must be willing to have membership in any community support programs such as Rotary, or the Chamber.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Will frequently lift 20-25 pounds, occasionally 30-40 pounds and seldom up to 50 pounds. Must be able to walk or be easily mobile up to 40% of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
