Our Financial Education team is now seeking a Full Time Financial Coach to play a key role on Goodwill's Workforce Development team for the Economic Security for All initiative (EsCA) in Eastside Tacoma.
Wage:$18.00-$21.00 per hour

You must be capable of relating to individuals with barriers to employment, including long periods of unemployment and limited work skills. We handle confidential information in this department, and you must be able to respect the members of our community regardless of where they are in their personal and financial journey. You care about ethics, and must be capable of working with staff members in a team approach. We serve a diverse community, and therefore Spanish fluent applicants are preferred but not required.
Position Summary: The Financial Coach reports to the Manager of Financial Education and Initiatives and will play a key role on Goodwill’s Workforce Development team for the Economic Security for All initiative (EsCA) in Eastside Tacoma. The team also includes a Program Coordinator, Career Readiness Education & Development (CRED) instructor as well as partners and volunteers through all aspects of the work. The position require Financial coaching as well as Instruction of Financial Education courses and classes designed to provide participants of all ages with invaluable skills essential to building financial stability and self-sufficiency in a creative and engaging style designed to fit the community. Financial Coaching assist participants over time understand banking basics, budgeting, debt management, investing, critical thinking skills, reading and understanding credit reports/scores, how to access community programs and resources such as free tax preparation. The EsCA team will also work together to develop and implement career plans for all EcSA participants that identify how they will reach earnings above 200% the federal poverty level. Career plans should access leveraged resources and services from all local partners as needed. The intention is to bring the resources of multiple programs together to support EcSA participants in a user-friendly and streamlined manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualifications: Must be capable of relating to individuals with barriers to employment, including long periods of unemployment and limited work skills, systematic poverty and navigating community resources. Must be a fast learner, self motivated and enjoy working with people. Must have ability to work independently as well as capable of working with staff members in a team approach and be able to establish rapport and good working relationships with co-workers and community partners. Must have effective communication skills, verbal and written; performance must reflect compliance with the agency Ethics document and confidentiality of all discreet business.
Education and/or Experience: AA Degree in Business or Social Service or at least 2 years in a financial role is required; tax return preparation and tax law experience preferred but not required; experience in working with persons with barriers to employment is highly preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization; must be able to communicate effectively in written and oral format.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions and percentages; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel and PowerPoint; must possess knowledge of and skills to utilize MS software including basic spreadsheets and databases; Internet knowledge required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: a valid Washington State Driver’s license and proof of insurance is required; must be First Aid/CPR certified or willing to acquire such certification at first available opportunity.
Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel throughout the community during business hours. Some out of state travel may be required as well.
